The NSWGR 48 class diesel electric locomotive was part of a total of 212 Goodwin Alco DL531 locomotives built from the late 1950s onwards. Significant numbers are still in regular use in New South Wales and South Australia. The kit was a joint venture between O-Aust Kits and Bergs Hobbies. The model consists of pewter, lost wax and polyurethane.

Here is the NSWGR 48 Class; built by AE Goodwin between 1959 and 1970. The 48 Class is a majority ALCO but with GE electrical equipment. There are 8 48 Classes preserved; but a majority are still in service, either heavily rebuilt by their new owners (and becoming a new class) or scrapped.

These vehicles were attached to the Rail Crane & Match Truck (formally NSWGR 48 class locomotive 48131) and travelled the state on recovery missions. Sadly, the crane was damaged in an accident some years ago and the ex- Southern Aurora cars were eventually transferred to Broadmeadow Maintenance Depot along with Heritage Electric Fleet cars.
